This workshop aims to develop lecturers’ ability to tackle racism in the classroom and create inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive. Participants are empowered with skills to identify and correct previously unrecognised patterns which could negatively impact inclusion efforts. With shared language and a clearer understanding of how various dimensions of racism are producing unjust and inequitable outcomes for students, lectureres will be better equipped to become anti-racist educators.
Participants will:
• Understand the four dimensions of racism (historical, structural, institutional and individual)
• Develop competence and language to facilitate discussions about racism in the classroom
• Understand how whiteness as a power relation functions
• Learn how to be anti-racist educator
